Video Transcript for Review of Rhino Rack Roof Box - Large Cargo Box - RR67AP

Hello neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this nice Rhino-Rack cargo box. It's a nice polypropylene, super tough, super impact resistant. You've seen these kind of cases before out in the everyday use, and whatnot, in off-roading. So it is a nice durable large cargo box, it's gonna provide a nice enclosed storage space for your gear. Now opening it up, it does have a nice rubber seals and gasketing washers, and they're gonna prevent dust and water to stay out of the box itself.

So I've got it open real quick, some dimensions, whenever it's closed the overall dimensions are 46 and 11/16 wide or long by 20 11/16 wide and eight inches tall. When it's open, the interior is 44 long by 18 and 5/16 wide by seven inches tall. Now I wanna zoom back out or in rather to the center here before we get to the hardware in there, and show you the handle. Nice heavy duty, and then the latches to close it. Simple operation.

You've also got holes here for locks to keep it nice and secure, and everything, whenever you're not using it. Now while I've still got it zoomed in, lemme see if I can pull this over and get the built-in pressure equalization valve. There we go. So this guy here, the built-in pressure equalization valve, you've probably seen that before but if not, basically that helps prevent the deformation of the box due to altitude and that kind of stuff. So you may have to twist that one way or another to let the pressure off and everything once you get to your location, to then open the box safely and easily.

Okay so opening it back up while I got it zoomed in here, you can see the hardware here, you got the special tool here, you got the star bolts, you've got these washers. They're black on one side, that's a actual gasket. And then you have these blue things, these are their patented life lock hardware they call 'em. And you can see they kinda make a Z shape but when those are installed on the platform they can spin and lock into place just like those three there are. So it's kinda hard to get 'em to spin here without a bolt in 'em, there we go.

So that keeps them open and like I said it's gotta mount to the top of a Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform rack. So that's kind of an idea of what the rack looks like. As you can see the box has no foam in that photo. That's just for photo purposes only. But again you would have to drill in the bottom of this box to mount this to the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform. So drilling is required, just keep that in mind. And coming from the top here you can see the hardware a little better but also you can see the foam inserts, they're basically just peel and pluck foam, whatever you wanna call it. They're little squares. You can mark your stuff and then pluck out what you don't want. The top of the case is more of like an egg foam. So you can see those ridges and everything there. So very nice, simple design. And this guy here is your drill table. I'm gonna pull this outta the box and then I'm gonna close the box. So bear with me here. (latches clicking) That way I can flip it over and also show you the side view and the wheels and everything that this guy has on it. So zoom it back out here. So I'm gonna flip this box over real quick. Okay so again this guy here is your drill template. It does come with the box. Basically you could hook it on the side such as this or maybe up and down like this. Read the instructions. You want to get it to where it's on there, it's right on the edge. And that's where you could safely mark holes for installing this in the box itself. So again read the instructions folks, make sure you're putting them in the right place the first time wherever you want them holes and stuff. Okay So again, nice little addition. It fits it perfectly. It is like a little, I'm assuming it's aluminum. I haven't put a magnet on it. It might just be like some basic sheet metal but again that's just a drill template. Nice little feature they've added. You can see the handle up here, again, one on this side, one on that side, and this side here. Yeah that's the bottom. You can see those wheels right So nice wheels for pulling it. So that makes it a little easier. So let's say you got your gear in there and you wanna pull it behind you or something, nice, easy to do. That makes it really simple to do. Folks, again the whole family only weighs about 20 pounds. Nice five year warranty. Inside space is 3.3 cubic feet. This is the Rhino-Rack large cargo box, I'm Steve. Thanks for watching. Stay safe out there and have a great day.
